I had hosted an open discussion group on Google Groups titled 'oloP'.
Sadly, not even a single thread took off.
I have closed the group and am posting the same discussions here. (This makes it a long post).

1. Three Simple Rules
On 11th February (Ditto for Vinay, 22 years ago), 158 years ago, the father of electricity was born. Among his 100 patents, he invented the battery and the light bulb. He was Thomas Alva Edison. At the core of Edison's philosophy was innovation but what few people know is that he was deaf. What is it that made him so successful?
Basically he followed three simple rules.
First, he said -- know what you want to achieve.
Second, be persistent in making these goals come true, despite all
challenges or disappointments.
Thirdly, he said -- "Refuse Conventional Wisdom"
Still following conventional wisdom...
2. My Favorite Poem
By, Rabindranath Tagore in his Nobel prize winning book "Gitanjali". Here it is.

2. My Favorite Poem
By, Rabindranath Tagore in his Nobel prize winning book "Gitanjali". Here it is.
Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high;
Where knowledge is free;
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls; ...
Where words come out from the depth of truth;
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the dreary desert sand of dead habit; ...
Where the mind is led forward by Thee into ever-widening thought and action;
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.
Oh!! Unparalleled in its beauty. You read it once, read it twice, but you can not get enough of it.
3. Twenty Years
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines, Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream."
Mark Twain
4. Start Running
Don't Just sit there, don't just walk, Start Running.
But wait, first read the reason --
Every morning, in Africa, a gazelle wakes up.
He knows he must run faster than the fastest of lions, lest he will be killed.
Every morning a lion wakes up.
He knows he must out-run the slowest gazelle, lest he will starve to death.
It doesn't matter whether you are a gazelle or a lion --
When the sun rises, you better be running.
Is the corporate world in the 21st Century any different?
