Apart from the run away success of Apple iPad, the other product that defined 2010 was the new Mac Book Air.

Starting at $999, these are not exactly cheap, but noteworthy for following reasons
  1. Sleek yet sturdy Unibody construction 
  2. 8.5Watts power usage vs. 13-45W typical (iPad is ~3Watts)
  3. 2.9 pounds. My current Dell weighs 7 pounds.
  4. All Flash storage
One key element lacking is Sandy Bridge (Core i5 2537M). MBA 2011 should close that gap.
